Vad är Ekobetong?

I ECO-Betong har delar av cementen ersatts av slagg, en restprodukt från stålindustrin. Det minskar koldioxidutsläppen från tillverkningen radikalt, liksom uttaget av jungfrulig kalksten. Beroende på typen av användningsområde kan betongens klimatbelastning minska med upp till 50 procent.

Betong måste innehålla en viss andel cement för att hålla ihop. Men det går att späda ut betongen med andra material för att på så sätt minska behovet av att bränna kalkstensmjöl. En metod är att använda masugnsslagg. Slaggen, som är en avfallsprodukt som uppstår vid tillverkning av stål, har cementliknande egenskaper.
